Tuesday Night Training
There was no official club training this week as the new training block doesn’t start until next week. Instead Andy Cargill led a Hartley Cup training night in Lower Largo with a great turnout.
The Nightmare Series race 1
On the weekend before Halloween, Heatherhall Woods near Ladybank was haunted by a large turnout of runners from local clubs for the first race in the 2017/18 Nightmare Series. The weather was excellent, the moon was bright and the trails were flat, perfect for racing in the dark. An excellent number of participants from Leven Las Vegas were there to enjoy the fun. The course consisted of two laps of the woods over a distance of 4.2 miles. Chris Russell and Bryan McLaren were the first two finishers. Other LLV in the top 20 were James Scott, John Kay and Allen Marr.

Parkruns
PBs galore this week! At St Andrews Dawn Watson, Jenni Johnstone, Lynsay Bell, Angie Wood and Caroline Robertson all set their best times so far. At Kirkcaldy, Paula McLean continued her amazing PB streak, beating the 25 minute barrier in the process. Neil Beard ran at Kirkcaldy for the first time and recorded his quickest parkrun to date.

Path of Condie Half Marathon
This half marathon is reputedly one of the toughest around. It starts at about 400ft elevation, climbs to over 800ft in the first few miles, then drops back down before climbing again to over 1000ft by the 10 mile mark, leaving a downhill run to the finish.
Running for LLV were Alan Davie and Josephine Lenachan. Alan finished in an excellent 11th place in 1:35:19. Josephine was 104th in 3:06:20.

The date of the Devils Burdens has been announced as Saturday 27 January 2018 so it might be a good time to start thinking about getting some teams and recces organised. LLV had two teams of 6 runners in the 2017 event and it would be great to have even more teams in 2018.
Also announced recently was the Alloa Half Marathon which is very popular among LLV members. The date for the race is Sunday 18 March 2018. Entry details can be found here.
