jogScotland Awards

The annual jogScotland awards will be handed out at a glitzy event in Glasgow on Saturday 4 November. Our running group was nominated for the Group of the Year award but sadly we weren’t shortlisted on this occasion. However the fantastic news is that Ian has been shortlisted for Leader of the Year in recognition of his many achievements as founder of Leven Las Vegas Running Club, most recently in particular his high profile campaign to reverse the decision of the Scottish Government to remove all funding from jogScotland despite the huge national popularity of the initiative and the enormous benefits to physical and mental health derived from encouraging people to adopt more active lifestyles.

Long standing LLV member Akira O’Connor saw his months of preparation pounding out 60 to 70 miles per week all come to fruition when he broke the 3 hour barrier at Chester city marathon. Runner of the Week

Last week Jemma recorded a significant running landmark when she completed her very first half marathon at the Great Scottish Run in Glasgow. Not only that but in conjunction with taking part in the event she also raised a large sum of money for donation to Brain Tumour Research, adding to the thousands of pounds that she and her family have already raised for the charity.

And it’s Jemma’s birthday this week – happy birthday Jemma!
